Wow-ee Zow-ee!!!

The H Street Crowd

What a fantastic opening weekend for The Last Days of Judas Iscariot! Congratulations to the cast, crew and Forum team. Thank you to all who made it to our two previews and opening night show. Now everyone gets a well deserved break for a few days before the performance Thursday night (followed by an OpenForum post-show discussion). I’m so excited to keep coming back night after night to this show…

Thought I’d let you see a bulletin I posted on MySpace.

    Love you guys.

    **********************************************************

Last night, I attended the opening night performance of H Street Playhouse’s newest show, “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot”.

Normally, I leave the promotion and advertising to the people responsible for the show, but I thought for this one, I’d throw my hat over the wall for it and try to spread the word.

Not only is my beautiful wife Jenn the producer and stage manager of the show, it’s a very wonderful, funny, moving piece about the nature of forgiveness, loyalty, God’s love and the Devil’s involvement.

It runs through May 4th, with performances on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are matinees - please check the website for dates.

There has only been one of Jenn’s plays that I’ve seen twice, and that was because I was going to help on the last day with the set strike. This one, I’d go see as many times as possible, as it’s something that I believe is going to be a benchmark of great DC theater. The characters are rich and the actors excel at bringing them to life.

Please, please, please make an effort to try and catch this show before it goes away on May 4th. There are some really important messages in the show that I’d love for the world to hear; but if I can’t get the world to hear them, I may as well try to get my friends to do so.

Once again, the show is called “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot”. For those of you that don’t know who Judas is, he’s the guy who betrayed Jesus Christ and started a three-day chain of events that eventually culminated in Judas’ suicide and Christ’s death and resurrection.

Even if you’re an atheist or an agnostic, you should still see this, if only for the performances. Nobody plays Mother Teresa like Maggie Glauber…

Give me a call if you need more info.

this is what I wrote when I came home after seeing the show:

“I am, occasionally, enthusiastic without cause.
But I do not think this is the case here.

You should see this show because it is not only good, but great. You should see it because the play itself is a fierce, intelligent, witty, and violently brave excursion into some extremely dangerous territory. You should see it because the production, while not flawless, is whole-heartedly serving the text. You should see it because there are a host of hard-working, detailed performances from an entirely non-Equity cast. You should see it because you will never see Satan personified onstage with more style and viciousness. You should see it because Frank Britton is transformative. You should see it because it is touching and shocking and thought-provoking and any number of review-quote-able adjectives. You should see it because you can feel the entire audience draw in breath, and laugh, and take ten seconds to laugh a second time as a brilliant line truly kicks in. You should see it because it’s the type of performance that restores my faith in theater - my faith that theater is worthwhile. “
